Salisbury Painting the First Lady, 1928

While not the most famous painter of Grace Coolidge — that would be Howard Chandler Christy — Frank O. Salisbury would capture equally well the First Lady’s beauty, strength and charm. Notice the artist has the slightest beginnings of a smile in her company whereas he is just as sober-faced as Mr. Coolidge in the picture below this one.
