While the Coolidges visited the Coffin House on Sapelo Island, Georgia, in the winter of 1928, Frank O. Salisbury was commissioned to paint both the President and First Lady. He would join an illustrious company of artists who have and would later attempt to capture their subjects, the enigmatic Coolidges.
